At the end of a life filled with activity and perseverance in serving the Romaïan Orthodox Church as well as the Lebanese prisoners and the Lebanese security forces, the Very Reverend Archpriest Eid (Habib) passed away on October 14, 2024, with the Christian hope of resurrection and eternal life. The funeral ceremonies were held at the Church of Prophet Elias (Mteileb) under the auspices of the Metropolitan of Byblos and Botrys eparchy, K.K. Selwan (Moussi). The sarcophagus was laid to rest in his hometown, Ain Harshe (Wadi El-Taym), on the sixteenth of October. Numerous personalities and delegations participated in the funeral, as well as dozens of diocesan priests. The Romaïan Cultural Society was represented at the funeral by its president, Professor Negib Geahchan.
With the passing away of Father Eid, the Romaïan Cultural Society lost a great friend who accompanied its inception, development, and all its activities since 2015, and was diligent in attending the various events it organized.
The late Father Eid was a kind, restless, service-oriented, perseverant and gentle man, characterized by the qualities of evangelical simplicity. He provided significant services to the poor and to prisoners in his capacity as delegate from the Archdiocese of Byblos and Botrys to care for the prisons in Lebanon.
