The Romaïan Cultural Society elects a new administrative board in 2025and appoints specialized committees

The General Assembly of the Romaïan Cultural Society held its annual meeting on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and listened to the administrative and financial reports summarizing the association’s achievements in the past year. The reports include the following sections:

1. Details of the meetings and activities of the Administrative Board and various committees
2. Membership activity in the association
3. Foreign relations
4. Cultural activities
5. Social activities
6. Achievements of the Committee for Honoring Endowed Persons
7. May 29th and the Golden Register of the Romaïan Deceased Endowed Persons
8. The financial budget
9. Media

In the same meeting, a new Administrative Board was elected to serve for three years, until 2028. The new Administrative Board includes Dr. Negib Geahchan as President, engineer and former governor Nicolas Saba as Vice President, lawyer Georges Haddad as the association’s representative to the government, Bechara Habib as Secretary General, Roland Khairallah as Treasurer, and Drs. Elie Abdelhak and Elie Moucadié as members.

The new Administrative Board immediately began its work and formed several committees to address various matters that fall within the association’s objectives. The board also included in it some specialized committee heads who assist it in achieving the association’s goals, namely former Beirut Governor Judge Ziad Chebib, Engineer Abdallah Hayek, media activist Lea Adel Maamari, and Engineer Gabriel Andrea. The working committees were formed as follows:

It is worth mentioning that the Romaïan Cultural Society was established in 2014 and set itself four main objectives: exploring and disseminating the Romaïan cultural and moral heritage, creating frameworks for cultural and social communication within the Romaïan community, establishing local and international cultural institutions, and highlighting and honoring individual and institutional talents. Over the past ten years, the association has organized numerous cultural conferences and seminars, arranged cultural and recreational trips to various Lebanese regions, and honored several prominent living and deceased endowed persons, including Dr. Mounir Abu Asssaly, Dr. Assaad Rizk, Dr. Antoine Messarra, the great artist Elias Rahbani, Dr. Leila Badr, and the industrialist Moussa Freiji.

The association is currently organizing its fifth scientific conference, which will be held on May 31, 2025, titled: The 1700th Anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea, featuring several prominent specialists in history and theology.
