Mr. Saïd Khairallah rests in the Lord
The Romaïan Cultural Society was shocked by the health deterioration of one of its most prominent members, Mr. Said Michel Khairallah, and his swift repose in God on March 10, 2025. The late Said was one of the first members affiliated with the Society, having joined its ranks early after its establishment in 2014, and was an active and persevering member of the Social Activities Committee.
The late Saïd Khairallah spent his life working in banking, and he loved Romaïan church music and melodies, so much that he would persevere weekly and on all religious occasions in visiting churches and participating in their choirs.
The funeral service was held at St. Catherine’s Church (Zahrat al-Ihsan, Ashrafieh, Beirut), after which his coffin was transported to Bhamdoun for burial in his family cemetery. Many members of the Society participated in the ceremony in recognition of this kind, inspired, and benevolent man. The Society’s president, Professor Negib Geahchan, delivered a eulogy, in which he said: “You, dear Said, would not have rushed into this free service were it not for your deep faith in the great Romaïan heritage that you carry and that flows in your veins, and which manifests itself, without the knowledge of many, in our daily lives and customs, and in the many historical and touristic sites scattered throughout Lebanon and the Levant, which we used to visit together, exploring their hidden treasures, their churches, monasteries, cities and villages, and above all, their authentic people.
You, dear Said, were not ignorant of this great Romaïan heritage, you who studied its church music and served its people chanting in this church and in every place where circumstances allowed you to sing hymns of praise to God. You, who studied the Greek language to be closer to the heritage of the fathers and forefathers, indulged in the sacraments of the Church and the mysteries of our great history, and sung with faith, hope and self-respect: “Save, O Lord, your people and bless your inheritance.”
